Plot: “In a peaceful post-apocalyptic world where the coasts have been flooded, Alpha is a robot left in charge of a Cafe by her owner who went off travelling. One day, she receives from him a package containing a camera, so that she might take pictures upon which she could later be able to reminisce. This brings Alpha to take closer notice of the little events of life and time around her.”

Plot: “In the near-future Japan, global warming has brought the large city Yokohama underwater, and only the hills remain above the ocean surface. What used to be one of the largest cities in Japan now feels like a small town. Basically, the existence of the island country itself has been threatened. However, there is no feeling of desperation, devastation, nor hopelessness. People are enjoying laid-back lives, and they seem to appreciate each other`s company, enjoying the quiet and peaceful time together.
This is especially so with Alpha, a carefree young woman who runs a cafe, named Cafe Alpha. She enjoys her life immersing herself in the beautiful nature all around her. There is nothing more precious to her than spending quality time with her kind friends. Oh, the fulfillment and the joy she finds in life...it all indicates her to be a compassionate human being, but she is not quite a human. She is actually a type A7M2 robot.
One day, upon hearing a radio forecast warning an approaching typhoon, her old friend who lives close by invites her to the gas station he runs, worried that her old cafe may not withstand the typhoon. Indeed, the passing of typhoon leaves Alpha with her cafe severely damaged. That`s when she decides to go on a journey to raise money to rebuild her cafe, and also to see the outside world away from her friends and the comfort of a peaceful life.”

Die OVA wirkte auf mich eher wie die Space Night auf Bayern 3 oder so was in der Art. Die Geschichte wird sehr ruhig, sanft und unaufgeregt erzählt. Die Szenen setzen sich fast ausnahmslos mit den kleineren Dingen des Lebens auseinander - und da kann eben nicht der Schocker-Thriller bei rauskommen. Böse Zungen können da natürlich sagen, dass einem spätestens nach 15 Minuten die Füße einschlafen.
Ich finde aber, dass die Yokohama-Serie etwas unheimlich beruhigendes an sich hat. Hintergrundinformationen über die Szenerie des Anime bekommt man als Zuschauer nur bruchstückhaft. Kommt mir manchmal so vor, als ob ich einen Manga mittendrin aufschlage und ein Kapitel lese. Ob dieser Effekt jetzt gezielt eingesetzt wurde oder nicht, ist allerdings auch egal. Zumindest ich habe mich mit den dort erzählten Begebenheiten abgefunden
. Vielleicht müsste man wohl dazu auch noch den Manga lesen, ob da mehr offene Fragen geklärt werden. Soweit ich weiß, gibt es den aber auch nicht in deutscher Übersetzung. und geplant ist dazu wohl auch nix
.
Quiet Country Café ist meiner Meinung nach von der Qualität der Animationen her etwas besser gelungen als das Prequel. Der Soundtrack ist bei beiden Staffeln wirklich nur eine leichte Untermahlung der gezeigten Szenerie. Angenehm.
Meiner Meinung nach der ideale Anime nach einem versoffenen Abend. Weder hektisch noch kompliziert. Einfach schön zum anschauen.
